Green Infrastructure for Ecosystem Services in the Built Environment
This interdisciplinary masterclass will explore issues facing Dublin of surface water management, urban heat island, and the quality of air, water and biodiversity. The workshop will provide an in-depth introduction to Green Infrastructure and the ecosystem services approach, in the light of changes in local planning and environment policy and opportunities to take an ecosystem services approach to the design, planing, implementation, retrofit and maintenance of Dublin. Participants will also work in groups to produce a practical design, applying an ecosystem services approach to the development of a local site in Dublin, to develop a practical understanding of the principles involved. The International Conference on Flood Resilience – Experiences in Asia and Europe
The International Conference on Flood Resilience – Experiences in Asia and Europe is organised by the Centre for Water Systems, University of Exeter. It will be held in Exeter, United Kingdom, 5-7 September 2013. The aim of this event is to gather professionals to present and discuss the latest research advances and practices in the development and implementation of resilience measures and flood management plans. The focus on cities in Asia and Europe is motivated by the approach applied within the EU-funded FP7 project CORFU that investigates differences in flooding problems and solutions in a number of case studies in these two continents. The wider objective is to enable the broadening of horizons and better joining of people, ideas and methodologies. ICFR 2013 welcomes submissions from all technical and non-technical areas with relevance to flood resilience.
