The International Conference on Flood Resilience – Experiences in Asia and Europe

The International Conference on Flood Resilience – Experiences in Asia and Europe is organised by the Centre for Water Systems, University of Exeter. It will be held in Exeter, United Kingdom, 5-7 September 2013. The aim of this event is to gather professionals to present and discuss the latest research advances and practices in the development and implementation of resilience measures and flood management plans. The focus on cities in Asia and Europe is motivated by the approach applied within the EU-funded FP7 project CORFU that investigates differences in flooding problems and solutions in a number of case studies in these two continents. The wider objective is to enable the broadening of horizons and better joining of people, ideas and methodologies. ICFR 2013 welcomes submissions from all technical and non-technical areas with relevance to flood resilience.

Resilience 2014: Resilience and Development - mobilizing for transformation

The focus of the conference is Resilience and Development: mobilizing for
transformation. The most influential scholars in the field of
social-ecological systems (SES) research will present cutting-edge findings
on resilience, adaptation, transformation and development of SES, and
representatives of major development agencies, NGOs and the business sector
will present their own perspectives on such research to address development
issues. With the aim to explore and reinforce the multiple links between
resilience thinking and development issues, Resilience 2014 will create an
arena for exchange and discussions, articulating different concepts and
practices used in these fields. Several associated events, such as training
courses and workshops, will be organized alongside the main conference.
